Programmes

Young NIMD is currently active in (preparing for) three NIMD programmes: Guatemala, Kenya and Ghana. These countries were chose because these countries have experienced a relatively stable democratic development.

Most advanced Young NIMD programme is in Guatemala. Guatemalan youth are quite active in a multiparty youth platform (El Foro) and have proven to be a very promising partner in democratization. They have organized a successful youth campaign in the 2007 elections. Future activities between Young NIMD and El Foro are being planned for the near future.

Secondly, Young NIMD has been cooperating with political youth in Ghana, in several successful youth seminars in Ghana. Young NIMD and its partners is currently contemplating further steps in their cooperation.

Finally, Kenya has been dientified as a country in which cooperation could be very beneficial. Thinking and understanding of teh role of youth in Kenyan politics needs to be developed at this stage, before the development of activities and a structural aprtnership between Dutch and Kenyan poltiical youth.
