PerspectieF (PerspectivE) is the youth organisation of the ChristenUnie (ChristianUnion) party of the Netherlands. PerspectieF distinguishes itself from other Dutch political youth organisations by its view on life, society and politics. This view and this vision is based on our belief in God and our faith in what He makes known to us in the Bible.
PerspectieF is founded in 2000 as fusion of two Christian Youth wings and has roughly 2500 members in age 16 – 30 years old. PerspectieF wants to motivate and stimulate young people to play an active role in politics and society. An active group of members participates in a wide range of activities. Through debate, excursion, lecture, training, etc. PerspectieF wants to focus on Christian leadership, development of political skills, political themes and values and the active presence in society. The image of PerspectieF is formed to a large extent by our relationship with the ChristianUnion, which the board of PerspectieF likes to characterize as critical in a positive and constructive way
Through the biblical foundation we have a few basic values concerning our political acting.
- justice for people around us
- protection of life
- pleading for the vulnerable in society
- a society where people want to be responsible for each other
- stewardship: durable use of environment
This Christian social political vision we share with a growing number of international political youth organisations. PerspectieF is maintaining good contacts with similar organisations abroad. In 2004 the European Christian Political Youth Network (ECPYN) was established by eight Christian political youth organisations from several European countries. In the following years ECPYN has experienced growth both in participating organisations as in activity. PerspectieF plays a key role in many ECPYN activities. PerspectieF takes care of publishing the newsletter and website, it also attends conventions of partner organisations for example. An important ECPYN event is the International Summer School, a week-long conference which takes place in a different country every year.
International cooperation is an important theme for PerspectieF and contibuting to YNIMD fits in this vision. We believe the sharing of experience with political youth abroad is of great value for the development of youth participation in society.
