Lizzy Beekman

Lizzy Beekman (1979) joined NIMD as political advisor on behalf of the Christian Democrats (CDA) in October 2007.

She graduated as an organisational anthropologist at the Free University in Amsterdam in 2005. For her final thesis she conducted research in an indigenous village in Suriname and worked on short-term development projects in this country.

After graduating she worked as an assistant for two members of parliament for the Christian Democrats. She was mainly involved in the portfolio development cooperation and foreign affairs.

In 2006, she joined NCDO, an organisation which aims to strengthen public support for international cooperation in the Netherlands. Within “The Third Chamber programme”, a shadow parliament dealing with development cooperation consisting of both Dutch and international “members of parliament”, Lizzy was responsible for the MPs from developing countries.
Furthermore she worked on several projects focussing on the rank and file of political parties in order to gain support for international cooperation.

At NIMD Lizzy is involved in the NIMD programmes in Latin America.
